The Comb Pattern
1. Principles
- We preach and teach the Bible because it is true and transforming.
- We plant church communities that are ethnically reflective.
- We develop teams that work with Kingdom goals.
- We serve our communities being the church of Jesus Christ.
- We develop relationships in and outside of the church.
2. Prayer
- We listen for God's voice in all things.
- We learn God's direction through a heart of prayer.
- We lead others only by listening & learning first.
- We value prayer as the cornerstone of church planting.
3. Place
- We evaluate locations based on size and composition.
- We target communities with a population of 5k-70k within a 10-mile radius of the center of the city.
- We examine potential locations by demographics.
- We don't plant near a church with similar DNA.
4. People
- We form a core group of (22) for each location
- We filter potential members of the core group using (3) tools: On-line general questionnaire, On-line gifts and personality assessment, and Comprehensive Phone interview.
- Leaders & core members are "indigenous" to the community.
5. Preparation
- Recognize and appoint leader.
- The newly formed church begins to meet in a home.
- We form a five person Leadership Team: Leader Pastor, Worship Leader, Discipleship Director, Children's Director, and Technical Director.
- We train, coach and mentor all those in leadership roles.
6. Plan
- Name and brand the new church.
- Establish a solid Social Media strategy & tools.
- Find a suitable place to hold public worship.
- Establish a Launch strategy & date.
7. Plant
- Market Launch to community.
- Launch – Begin public worship services.
8. Produce
- Lookers – Those curious about the Gospel.
- Listeners – Those who receive the Word, and follow Christ.
- Learners – Those who mature in their walk with God.
- Leaders – Those Gifted and called to lead others.
9. Procreate
- Give birth to another life giving church.
- Plant a new work that will procreate within (2) years.
